Kandy Sports Club are expected to strengthen their squad with the arrival of four outstanding schoolboy rugby players, who have made a significant impact during the 2026 schools rugby season.

The newcomers are Shan Althaf, Udan Wijekoon and Minula Yaddehige from Trinity College, together with St. Peter’s College Captain Senura Perera. All four have played key roles in their respective school teams and have emerged as exciting prospects for the future of club and national rugby.

The Kandy trio this season underlined Trinity’s dominance under Shan Althaf’s leadership in schools rugby where they ended as League and Knock out champions, while Perera stood out for his leadership, determination and consistency in his team’s campaign.

Their expected move to Kandy SC will provide an important pathway from schools rugby to the senior game, with the young quartet tipped to make their mark at club level soon after the completion of the schools sevens tournament. (SJ)
