
Elevated to ‘B’ Division
Abans, in Partnership with LG emerged champions of the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) ‘C’ Division Cricket Tournament, defeating Sampath Bank in the final played at the CCC Grounds on August 21, 2026. Subsequently, the Abans team was also elevated to ‘B’ Division with this win. The team came through with a commanding performance to post 284 all out, before dismissing Sampath Bank for 151, securing the championship with a comprehensive 133-run victory.
Led by Sudara Dakshina, the Abans team displayed an impressive all-round performance, with their batting laying the foundation for a convincing win. Shahan Kaushalya top-scored with an outstanding 80 runs off 63 balls, including nine fours and two sixes. He was well supported by Duranka Silva, who struck a fluent 76 off 60 balls, with six fours and seven sixes, while Tharusha Fernando contributed a valuable 63 off 71 balls, including nine fours and two sixes.
With the ball, Kaveesha Dulanjana delivered a winning spell, claiming an exceptional 6 wickets for 33 runs in 6.4 overs. His outstanding performance earned him both the Best Bowler of the Final award and the prestigious Man of the Final title.
The individual awards reflected Abans’ dominance, with Shahan Kaushalya named Best Batsman of the Final, while Kaveesha Dulanjana was recognised for his decisive contribution with the ball with the award for Best Bowler of the Final, as well as Man of the Final.
