U13 Boys, Division A, Tier I champions: Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa

U13 Girls, Division A, Tier I champions:   Holy Family Convent, Colombo

 

The Inter-School U13 Basketball Championship 2026, powered by People’s Bank, concluded successfully with the finals and presentation ceremony held recently at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo, bringing together some of Sri Lanka’s most promising young basketball talent.

The championship provided a competitive platform for schoolchildren from across the country to showcase their skills, determination and sportsmanship, while gaining valuable experience through high-level inter-school competition.

In the U13 Boys’ Division A – Tier I, Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa emerged champions, while Royal College, Colombo secured the 1st Runner-up position. St. Peter’s College, Colombo and St. Benedict’s College, Colombo finished as the 2nd and 3rd Runners-up respectively.

In the U13 Girls’ Division A – Tier I, Holy Family Convent, Colombo clinched the championship. Lyceum International School, Nugegoda was named 1st Runner-up, while PDS Kularathna Vidyalaya, Ambalangoda and Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy secured the 2nd and 3rd Runner-up positions respectively.

The championship also featured several categories across the U13 Boys’ and Girls’ divisions, with schools from different parts of Sri Lanka recording notable performances.

U13 Boys’ – Official results

Division D – Tier I

Champions: Michells International School, Negombo 

1st Runner-up: St. Joseph College, Negombo 

2nd Runner-up: Dharmarajah College, Kandy 

3rd Runner-up: Maharagama Central College, Colombo 

Division C – Tier II

Champions: Lyceum International School, Gampaha 

1st Runner-up: Science College, Colombo 

2nd Runner-up: Sumedha College, Colombo 

3rd Runner-up: Thurstan College, Colombo 

Division C – Tier I

Champions: St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 

1st Runner-up: D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo 

2nd Runner-up: Nalanda College, Colombo 

3rd Runner-up: St. Peter’s College, Colombo (Negombo Branch) 

Division B – Tier II

Champions: Asian International School, Colombo 

1st Runner-up: Mahanama College, Colombo 

2nd Runner-up: Richmond College, Galle 

3rd Runner-up: Wycherley International School, Colombo 

Division B – Tier I

Champions: MarisStella College, Thibirigaskatuwa 

1st Runner-up: Guidance International School, Colombo 

2nd Runner-up: Carey College, Colombo 08 

3rd Runner-up: Jaffna Hindu College, Jaffna 

Division A – Tier II

Champions: Wesley College, Colombo 

1st Runner-up: St. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia 

2nd Runner-up: Sebastian College, Moratuwa 

3rd Runner-up: St. Thomas’ International School, Seeduwa

As part of its commitment to nurturing the next generation of sporting talent, People’s Bank selected and recognised 62 promising young players as Future MVPs during the tournament, highlighting their outstanding performances, potential and contribution to their respective teams. Among the 31 boys recognised as Future MVPs were Anton Joy Diron Raj of Michells International School, Negombo; K.K.Y. Minhas of Lyceum International School, Gampaha; Y.H. Adithya Abilash, Dishane T. Wijesinghe and R. Mihisara Ranhiru Perera of Nalanda College, Colombo; B.M. Fernando, T. Babasara, B.M. Wijesundera and R.A.V.M. Perera of D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo; D.J.S.A. Fernando, W.S.R.S. De Livera and K.H.M. Yenul Nethsuka of St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10; Y.D.
