The 105th Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) Club Championship ended last weekend at the Borella course, with Kushal Johnpillai winning the Gents’ title and Kayla Perera taking the Ladies’ title.
In the Main Championship final, Johnpillai beat defending champion Kumar Danushan by one hole, 1 up. Lakbima News obtained the official scorecards from RCGC that record the hole-by-hole result and confirm the 1 up margin.
Perera won the Ladies’ final against Kaya Abhayaratne, 5 and 4, according to the RCGC results shared with Lakbima News.
Mavali Weerasinghe won the Ladies’ Bronze Cup, defeating Dinoo De Mel 7 and 5, per the club’s published scores.
Results in the men’s divisions were as follows: Tissa Wickramasinghe won the Seniors’ Division with a nett aggregate of 142; Rohitha Mendis took the Masters’ title on countback after a tie with Sunil Udalagama on 136 nett; Lithum Silva won the Bronze Division with 132 nett; and Yeun Kook Chung won the Silver Division with 138 nett. These totals are listed on the RCGC score sheet provided to members and to Lakbima News.
Several matches were decided by narrow margins, and the official records supplied by the club are available on request from RCGC for verification.
