The Citizens Development Business Finance (CDB) Monthly Medal at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) produced a highly competitive day of golf, with Shiromal Fernando emerging as the Overall Winner with an impressive 62 nett last weekend.
Fernando’s outstanding performance also saw him dominate Division C (Handicap 19-28) nett, while Liu Ying finished runner-up with 63 nett. Ying secured the Division C Gross title with 88.
In Division A (Handicap 0-9), C. Amerasinghe took the Nett title with 69, followed by Sachin De Silva on 70. De Silva made it a successful outing by winning the Division A Gross category with 70 gross. With powerful shots, he also claimed the Longest Drive at the 8th hole.
Gihan Punchihewa scored 64 nett to win Division B (Handicap 10-18), with S.A. Waas finishing runner-up with 67 nett. Punchihewa also secured the Division B Gross title with 80.
Among the seniors, Priath Fernando won the Nett category on a better-back-nine countback after carding 66, with Anura Somaratne also recording 66. Somaratne took the Seniors Gross title with 82.
A.D.S. Gunasekera won the Masters Nett with 68, ahead of Upul De Silva on 69, while Bandula Weerasinghe secured the Masters Gross with 84.
In the Junior Men’s Division, Yuvan Rathiskanth won the Nett on a better-back-nine countback with 69, ahead of Akein Subasinghe, also on 69. Thejas Rathiskanth won the Junior Gross with 80. Kayla Perera was in sparkling form in the Junior Ladies, winning both Nett and Gross with 71, while Mihneli Herat was runner-up in the Nett with 78.
In the Ladies Silver Division, Tiru Jesudasan won the Nett with 74, followed by Jade Jiggens on 78, while Anouk Chitty took the Gross with 89. Dinoo De Mel won the Bronze Nett with 70, ahead of Gnei Jehan Lye on 71, while Usha De Silva won the Bronze Gross with 93.
Kalyani Ranasinghe won the Ladies Seniors Nett on a better-back-nine countback with 76, with K. Twenbold as runner-up, while Myungock Jane Hong won the Gross with 94. De Mel also secured the Nearest to the Pin at the 9th hole.
The successful medal was sponsored by CDB, whose continued support contributes significantly to the development and promotion of golf at the RCGC.
