Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra will undertake an official visit to Qatar from Sept. 20 to 23, leading the Sri Lankan delegation to the Sri Lanka-Qatar Joint Committee Meeting on labour and foreign employment cooperation.
The Joint Committee is reconvening after more than five years, with discussions expected to focus on employment opportunities, safe and transparent recruitment, worker welfare and protection, skills development and stronger institutional coordination between the two countries.

During the visit, Hemachandra is scheduled to meet Qatar’s Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Saeed bin Samikh Al Marri and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman bin Nasser Al-Thani.
The discussions are expected to focus on further strengthening Sri Lanka-Qatar cooperation in labour and foreign employment.
