Major Clubs Women’s Limited-Over tournament
Panadura SC and Badureliya CC entered the final of the Major Clubs Women’s Limited-Over tournament with wins over Air Force SC and Army SC respectively.
In a low scoring semi-final played at the SLLDC Kirimandala, Panadura SC pulled off a nervy three-wicket win against Air Force SC. Chasing a target of 100, Panadura SC slumped to 93-7 before eventually hauling through. Panadura SC batters were rattled by the seam of Malki Madara (4/36) and leg-spinner Shanilka Sathyangani (3/17). Off-spinner Pramudi Methsara (3/9) led Panadura SC’s assault on the Air Force SC batters.
Badureliya CC also had to fight hard before beating Army SC by 14 runs at Bloomfield grounds. Badureliya CC defended their total of 148-8 successfully by bowling out Army SC for 134. Army SC skipper Anushka Sanjeewani’s valiant knock of 58 off 118 balls (2 fours) proved a vain effort as Badureliya CC kept Army SC in check right throughout the innings through their bowlers Shehara Iduwari (3/43) and Shashini Umasha (3/25).
