CBL Samaposha, a nutritional brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), will provide refreshments to devotees at the Kandy Esala Perahera. Company records supplied to Lakbima News show the brand has supported the event for more than 20 years.
According to a company statement to Lakbima News, CBL Samaposha first associated with the Perahera in 2003. The initiative was designed to offer convenient, ready-to-consume nourishment for devotees and pilgrims who travel to Kandy to attend the religious and cultural festival.

The Kandy District Secretariat confirmed to Lakbima News that, since 2010, distributions have been organised with the Secretariat’s approval inside the Sri Dalada Maligawa precinct and in adjacent areas. The Secretariat said permits and on-site coordination are required for any organisation distributing food near the temple.
For the 2026 Randoli Perahera, CBL Samaposha told Lakbima News it will distribute 20,000 CBL Samaposha Aggala packs per day during the five-day procession, a total of 100,000 packs. The company said these packs will be available to devotees near the Sri Dalada Maligawa and at selected nearby locations.

CBL also informed Lakbima News that roughly 2,000 Aggala packs per day will be distributed through four Devalayas. Those supplies are intended for dancers, performers, support staff and others involved in the Perahera.
“The Kandy Esala Perahera brings together thousands from across the country. CBL Samaposha provides food to participants and contributors during the event,” said Isuru Mendis, brand manager, CBL Samaposha, in a statement to Lakbima News.
Company records and confirmation from the Kandy District Secretariat provided to Lakbima News indicate CBL has supported the Perahera since 2003 and worked with the Secretariat on distribution logistics since 2010. The firm described the programme as part of its community nutrition activities and said it will continue the supply during the current Perahera.
