Aswesuma elderly allowances: Rs. 3.48 billion payout for August 2026
The Welfare Benefits Board (WBB) said it will credit Rs. 3.48 billion to senior citizens aged over 70 under the Aswesuma welfare programme for August 2026. The payment covers 696,612 beneficiaries and is intended to help those on low incomes.

The WBB confirmed it will pay Rs. 3.091 billion in the first phase to 618,352 beneficiaries aged over 70. A second phase will distribute Rs. 391.3 million to 78,260 beneficiaries. In total, 696,612 recipients will receive Rs. 3.483 billion as part of the August disbursement.
Credit date and how beneficiaries can access funds
Funds are scheduled to be credited to eligible Aswesuma bank accounts on September 3, 2026. Allowances will be available for withdrawal from that date.
Beneficiaries should check their Aswesuma bank account statement or contact their local WBB office to confirm the payment and learn how to withdraw the funds.
