Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) hosted 160 students from the University of Kelaniya’s Mass Communication Department for a field visit intended to give practical experience in sports journalism and international media operations.
SLC told Lakbima News that the group, accompanied by academic staff, visited the RPICS in Colombo during the Sri Lanka vs. India Under‑19 second four‑day game. The visit focused on press box procedures, live match reporting and sports photography.
The SLC Media Unit delivered a presentation titled “Professional Practices in Sports Journalism” and opened a question and answer session. Students also spoke with photographers who cover international cricket to learn about working conditions, technical requirements and editorial standards.
SLC told Lakbima News the programme is part of its corporate social responsibility programme and is intended to connect classroom learning with practical experience for students preparing to enter the media sector. (Lakbima News)
