The Cabinet of Ministers approved publication of the Community Based Corrections (Amendment) Bill in the government gazette and its submission to Parliament.
The proposal was submitted by the Minister of Justice and National Integration, the Cabinet records show.
The Cabinet earlier approved, on April 7, 2025, changes to the Community Based Corrections Act, No. 46 of 1999, to tighten supervision and penalties for repeat offenders.
After that decision the Legal Draftsman prepared the amendment bill. The Attorney General’s Department cleared the text, a copy of the clearance provided to Lakbima News shows.
With Cabinet approval now in place, the bill will be published in the gazette and then presented to Parliament for debate and vote. (Lakbima News)
