Sri Lanka Masters Team wins 40 medals at Lightning Cup International Badminton Championships

The Sri Lankan Masters badminton team produced an impressive performance at the 3rd Edition of the Lightning Cup International Badminton Championships 2026, winning a total of 40 medals, including 10 Gold, 10 Silver and 20 Bronze medals.

The international championship was held from 3 to 6 September, 2026, at the Pavilion Hall, Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, Resorts World Genting, Malaysia, bringing together Masters Badminton players from several countries.

Sri Lankan players displayed their experience and competitive strength throughout the championship, securing medals across a number of events.

Thushari Brahmanage was among the standout performers for Sri Lanka, winning two Gold medals and one Bronze medal. Renu Chandrika also delivered an excellent performance, securing two Gold medals and one Bronze medal, while Nadeesha contributed one Gold and two Silver medals.

Rohan De Silva won one Gold, one Silver and three Bronze medals, while Lakshmi claimed one Gold, two Silver and one Bronze medal. Frits added another strong contribution with one Gold, one Silver and one Bronze medal.

Other Sri Lankan medal winners included Unang Rahamat, who won one Gold medal, and Marlev, who secured one Gold and one Bronze medal.

In the Silver-medal category, Andi Mawardi won one Silver, while Hellen secured two Silver and one Bronze medal. Kaushali added one Silver medal to Sri Lanka’s tally.

The Bronze-medal winners included Amila Yatapana with three Bronze medals, Manjula Perera, Anil Kumar, Mangala, Rudianto, Jagath Ramanayaka and Chong Yew.

The overall medal tally of the Sri Lankan Masters contingent was:

  • Gold – 10
  • Silver – 10
  • Bronze – 20
  • Total – 40 medals

The impressive haul of 40 medals at the Lightning Cup International Badminton Championships 2026 highlights the continued strength, experience and commitment of Sri Lanka’s Masters badminton players on the international stage.
